An ATM Traffic Shaper for Delay-Sensitive and Delay-Insensitive VBR Serv:ices*

چکیده

W e propose a n ATM traff ic shaper f o r shaping mu l tiple delay-sensit ive and delay-insensit ive VBR cell s treams s imultaneously , w i th a shaping m e c h a n i s m following the definit ion o f GCRA algorithm. B y using a feedback m e c h a n i s m between the regulator and the scheduler, t he ou tpu t s treams are strictly conforming. In order t o achieve best performance, we employ the Earl ies t -Due-Date ( E D D ) discipline t o resolve cell em i s s ion conflicts. T h e call admis s ion control condi t ion and t h e cell delay bound f o r both classes of VBR t r a f i c are derived. S imu la t ion results demonstrate tha t t he proposed traff ic shaper c a n provide dif ferent levels of QoS (delay bound) guarantees f o r delay-sensitive and delay-insensit ive t r a f i c .
